Forge a character

A pathfinder all your own

Forge an explorer truly your own — body, face, and hair, living or grave-touched — then watch hundreds of equipment pieces you earn layer onto your character, visible on every screen. Rise through ten ranks, from Stray to Grand Explorer, along the Path of the Unseen Way.

The Loot Forge

Relics with a history

Quests sometimes yield a rare relic — procedurally forged, named in the Order's tongue, and stamped with the day and deed that birthed it. Your first is the First Witness, never given up. Six slots, five rarities, and one iron law: no relic ever buys your place on the Ledger.

Themed sets

Gather a set, awaken its boon

Relics belong to themed sets, and a set worn together is more than its parts. Reach two, four, and six matching pieces and each threshold awakens a deeper boon — a little more Luck at the Forge, quiet quality-of-life graces, and the like. Your satchel tracks the road to each set — two of four, four of six — so you always know what's left to find. And true to the one law, no set bonus ever touches the Ledger.

Real-world quests

Walk out. Bring back proof.

Word reaches you of a wonder worth seeing. Answer it in the real world — photograph it, walk to it, or gather a whole list of sights.

Magister Aldwyn, Loremaster of the Order

“Word reaches the Order of a red door beyond the mill-bridge. Walk out, witness it, bring back proof — and your name shall enter the Ledger of Finds.”

Quests come in three kinds — Photo (witness a real thing), Steps (walk a distance), and Checklist hunts (gather several sights, like a colour hunt).

Photo finds are confirmed by AI vision — fair and fail-closed. A daily cap keeps the contest honest. (No GPS: Outdare never asks for or stores your location.)

Ledger of Finds

Reading the Ledger by candlelight…

Be among the first

The Ledger of Finds

The only race that matters

Every pathfinder is ranked by the finds they truly earn — boosters, gear, and perks are excluded from the standings, so nothing buys rank. Climb the global Ledger, or contest your own order's. This board is live from the game.

The War of the Two Orders

A realm worth contesting

The two orders — the living dawn and the watchful dead — contest an authored realm territory by territory, season by season. Rally to a front, and every find you bring back pushes it for your kin. The map turns each Monday — the reckoning.

Kindle the flame

Complete a quest each day to keep your streak alight — the longer it burns, the more your finds are worth (up to double). Earn trophies for the Hall of Finds, wearable titles, and quiet perks.

  • First-Footing — Your first quest, recorded forever.
  • Hawk-Eyed — 25 photo finds — a perk for sharp eyes.
  • The Hundred-Dawn Pilgrim — A 100-day streak — a Runestone & the Everdawn Cloak.

You don't walk alone

Add companions by trading codes — there is no browsing for strangers, and no free-text chat anywhere in Outdare: what pathfinders exchange are Hails, a dozen animated gestures your own hero performs on your friend's screen. Gather at the Hearth to read your order's deeds, honour them, and recruit new pathfinders through the Lineage — every mentor earns a tithe of their recruits' early finds.

Relics can be bequeathed to friends or sold to Coram the Far-Walker — a gift economy, not a marketplace.

Built fair, from the ground up

Quest rewards are stamped by the Order, never the player. Rankings ignore every boost. The oath is sworn once. Outdare is an adventure you earn — that's what makes the Ledger worth climbing.
